Always look on the bright side

Load shedding is very much part of our life again all over South Africa. Every day people complain about this inconvenience and all its consequences. You can not go onto social media without being bombarded by every one’s opinions and laments.

Frankly, I am finding it irritating to read about so much negativity. People need to realize that the only way you can overcome negativity is by sowing seeds of positivity and sharing all the high vibrational attributes like love, peace, joy, patience, goodness, kindness, humbleness, true caring, light, appreciation of beauty and good feelings all the time. Everything is made out of energy and there is good and bad energy. The art is to learn how to manage energy by concentrating to create more high vibrational, good energy than sowing low vibrational negative energy.I read about an experiment where scientists divided a bowl of yoghurt cultures and fed the one lot milk. No matter what they devided the other half of the cultures with from the fed side, the non- fed cultures went wild when the other side got fed. Yoghurt knows yoghurt. just like positive energy begets more positive energy and negative energy more negative charges. When we speak negatively, have bad attitudes or perform negative actions, we create more of that which we do not want. The opposite is true with positive thoughts, words, attitudes and deeds.

Just like a rotten piece of fruit contaminates the other pieces of fruit, we influence others around is. Let our influence spread the love. We need to focus on the things we want, not with an attitude of lack but with feelings of abundance. A popular excercise in life coaching circles is the creation of a vision board where one makes a collage of pictures and words that represents the life you want and the things you want in it. I can assure you from my own experience that a vision board of your dreams, a clear and detailed goal with lots of mile stones and good, solid values that determines the person you want to become more of, really helps you to live a motivated, purposeful life that sets you up for personal success.

To demonstrate how one can become part of the solution and wave all the whiners good bye, I came up with a few positives about load shedding, since this is a national reality for every body at the moment and possibly for some time to come:

  1. Load shedding helps you practice creating buffers and preparing for future emergencies, you buy candles, gas lamps, generators etc. which will be handy in the event of an emergency power cut.
  2. Load shedding helps you with time management and planning your productivity to revolve around the load shedding schedule. You are forced to be productive when the power is on and probably get more done now that the lights are on, since you have less work time to waste.
  3. Family time around candle light is certain to be more precious now that people are forced to have actual conversations and not all disappear in their own directions to watch tv, play games or be busy on social media.
  4. Families can bond over board games and other fun activities that does not involve electricity.
  5. The majority of South Africans love a braai and what better excuse than a braai for dinner when the oven can’t work?
  6. A cosy braai or hearth fire is the ideal place to gather and tell great stories and learn the art of face to face contact again.
  7. People go to bed earlier and don’t waste good sleeping time on tv and other time wasting activities that are so prevalent in this age.It is a scientific fact that people get the best quality sleep before midnight.
  8. When there are no noises caused by electric devises, the quiet can help you think and meditate better.
  9. People are motivated to contemplate alternative power sources which are more earth friendly.
  10. I am convinced that this power emergency will get the genius in us find creative ways to overcome the electricity crisis.
  11. If we all become aware of how much we waste and start saving electricity, it will go a far way to conserve power. Put lights of in rooms when you are not in them, lower your geyser’s temperature, unplug chargers when you are not charging devices, since it still draws power when not in use.Just like we learned the value of water and saving it, we must do it with our electricity resource.
  12. We are still incredibly blessed in this country with so much we take for granted. We must practice thankfulness for what we have every day. keeping a gratitude journal in which you write up all the things you are greatful for. Counting your blessings is a great way to spread positive energy.

Now the ball is in your court to become part of the solution and to become more accomplished and evolved by creating good energy ( excuse the pun) and fabulous ideas to become victorious in this seemingly dark situation :). let us know of the advantages you can see in our current (less 🙂 ) situation. please scroll down on and leave your constructive and electrifying ( 🙂 ) comments.
