DO YOU WANT TO DO LIFE THE HARD WAY OR THE EASY WAY?
We have talked about values before, those things that are integrally important to us and by which standards we conduct our life.
In order to become more of the person we want to be and to grow into the person that can reach the goals we set for our selves, we need to evaluate our core values.
An easy way to do this is to list the attributes of the identity you want to have. The most important ones will be the core values you will need to implement in your life and design systems around that can become habits. The more these become ingrained, the easier it will be to create the momentum you need for completion of your goals.
A large part of personal development is letting go of that which does not serve you and sabotages your personal success in the life areas you want to work on.
We call these our “moving-away-from values”. These are of course all those values that are not prolific for creating the identity you need to become to be able to fulfill your goals and achieve personal success in any life area.
A good example of values that will raise your standards are for instance what is called “the fruits of the spirit” for instance love, joy peace etc. in the Bible and moving-away-from values will for instance be jealousy, anxiousness, greed, laziness, mediocrity, procrastination, negative thoughts etc.
We all create rules unconsciously for living our values and we can either make them hard or easy to experience. To install the core values we want to move towards, we must make the rules to experience them easy.
I have two brothers. Both are extremely successful in their chosen jobs, but the one’s rules for work makes doing what he loves easy and the other much harder:
The first one’s value -rule for work is that “it must be like play” the second one’s rule is that work is only work when you have to work incredibly hard for your money.”
Which one’s life do you think is easier?
In order to feel your core values more, you can make rules to experience them easy by saying : “Any time I want to experience value x I am going to do y”. For instance: Any time I want to feel calm, I am going to take a deep breath”.
Obviously we want to experience our moving-away- from -values as little as as possible. The rules we are going to make here will be (for in stance) like this : ” The only time I will feel anxious is when I walk a tight rope between two cliffs.”
So make your rules for experiencing your ideal values easy and living your best life will be easy!
Remember that each person’s values are finger print-unique and only you yourself can determine your identity. it is very important that your values must be authentic and not what you think others want you to have.
Which core values and rules to feel those as often as possible will you install today to become more of who you want to be?
